Joachim Schonowski

Director Smart City Innovation, Telekom Innovation Laboratories

Seit 2012 arbeitet der Dipl. Physiker Joachim Schonowski in den T-Labs am Thema digitale Kommune / Stadt von Morgen (Smart City). Dabei hat er das Thema im Konzern verankert und arbeitet nun an mit Hilfe eines Smart City Labs ab Innovationen für die Region von morgen.

Joachim Schonowski arbeitet in verschiedenen Gremien, z.B. IT-Gipfel, European Innovation Program, Smart Country und ist Ko-Vorsitzender des DIN Smart City Standards Forums. Er kombiniert die  verschiedenen Blickwinkel anderer Experten und von Kommunen auf das Ecosystem digitale Stadt / Kommune in seine praktische Arbeit.

Er ist Projektleiter der Deutschen Telekom des EU H2020 Projekts „reTHINK“, welches an neuen Kommunikationsmethoden für eine Smart City arbeitet und des EU H2020 Smart City Leuchtturmprojekts „mySMARTLife“ als Projektpartner der Stadt Hamburg.

Wissenschaftliche Neugier und der Spaß an neuen Herausforderungen treiben ihn an im Thema digitale Kommune von Morgen  innovative Themen der Informations- und Kommunikationswelt Prototypenhaft zu untersuchen und den Diskurs mit anderen Experten auf Konferenzen wie z.B. Habitat III zu suchen.

What does „Kinderüberraschung“ and the EU Lighthouse Project „mySMARTLife” have in common?

So far many smart city approaches have been focusing on the introduction of digital technologies in some domains. One example is the digitization of streetlights. But smart city is a complex subject and requires a holistic – sustainable approach to connect three core elements:

• The urban sustainability goals
• Form the specific urban ecosystems coupled with innovation
• Enable a user centric approach

Within the H2020 EU lighthouse project mySMARTLife, Telekom Innovation Laboratories, supports the city to address the three U’s.
The introduction of innovation shall be part of a holistic approach towards Smart City 5.0.
